Chickpeas are a food Crop and a Resource. It can be found and grown in the Arid Climate.
Chickpeas can be consumed to fulfill the Food Vital Need.
Like all food crops, Chickpeas require a Civilization Point in 
Cultural Customs in order to be consumed, and another point in 
Cultural Skills in order to be grown in farms. It can always be gathered from wild crops without requiring a point investment into Cultural Skills.
Chickpeas are one of ten food Crops that can only be grown in one specific Climate (The others being Bananas, Beans, Corn, Dates, Figs, Potatoes, Rice, Tomatoes, and Turnips).

The gather rate of an field annex is between 0.1 and 0.2 Chickpeas per field annex, Field annexes can be places on various vertilities from 0 to 6 it is advisable to place Fields on the highest possible fertility.
The Yield per field annex and the yield of the natural patches can be increased by spending more Culture points in Chickpeas production.
The yield can be increased to 0.45 Chickpeas per field annex on 3 fertility (As of v0.3.1.x)
