Next Mission
Greetings,
After living as nomads since the dawn of time, living off hunting and gathering, your primitive tribe has finally stumbled upon a territory that seems worthy in which to renounce their nomadic ways. The time has come to settle down and build something significant to stand the test of time and they have chosen you to lead them.
This seems to be a decent territory to do so, but maybe it's worth continuing your journey to find better lands (not advised for new players). The decision is yours.
Mission Conditions[]
- Control 1 or more Territories.
Mission Rewards[]
- 1 Civilization Point
Primary Outcomes[]
This mission will get you to settle the Territory your Tribe has spawned on.
Tips[]
Starting Preferences[]
Before you join the game, you are asked to provide a player name/appearance, civilization name, and to pick your Starting Preferences:
The character name/appearance and civilization name should be self explanetory, but lets go over the Starting Preferences.
There are 2 things to keep in mind when selecting a start type. What type of start you want, and what climate you want to spawn in.
Start Type
There are 4 start types to pick from.
Primitive Tribe starts are formations that are seeded across the map when the game starts. This start will start you from the beginning, and offer no accelerated start in terms of technology/buildings.
Succession starts are where you take over a player that has become inactive. You inherit their civilization as is and continue playing as them.
Colonies are starts where another player has created a colony that another player can take over. This is a way to bring another player in without them needing to start from scratch.
Note that Colonies is currently not available in-game for players to create or use as a start.
New Leader starts are where you take over a rebelled Territory of another player. You start with a selection of technologies and buildings. This is sortof like a Succession, but is only one Territory.
Climate
There are 4 possible starting types for climates:
Cold starts are Nordic territories.
Nordic territories get a +3 Health bonus, due to their lack of fertility and types of crops that can be cultivated/harvested on them.
Temperate starts are Continental or Oceanic territories.
Arid starts are Arid or Desert territories.
These starts are more difficult compared to the others, as you have limited tile fertility away from sources of water. If this is your first time playing you should probably pick one of the other starting types over this one.
Tropical starts are Tropical territories.
Tropical territories get a -3 Health bonus, due to their abundance of crops that can be cultivated/harvested on them.
If you're new to the game, picking Temperate or Nordic are the easiest out of the 4 types. Arid can be tricky given the climate type and potentially limited access to suitable farming areas and water. Tropical is more difficult because of the -3 Health bonus it provides, and needs to be offset by improving Health more quickly.

Formations can be interacted with by clicking on them in the world map, or by going through the Formations button up in the top right. The button will show you formations that are on the territory you currently have selected.
You are able to look at Formations that are not your own and see what their unit composition is, along with what resources they are carrying with them.

Settling on the Tile[]
With our formation selected, we can now Settle the territory.
You can do this one of two ways.
- You can hold down the right mouse button on the formation, and bring up the formation Action Wheel, and select Settle by moving your mouse over it and releasing the right mouse button:
The Action Wheel allows you to issue commands for tiles that you aren't standing on.
- Or, you can click the Orders button in the formation window in the bottom left, and then selecting the Settle order from the list of available commands for the tile the Formation is on.
Doing either of these actions should being up a window with the following:
The Settle Action allows you to create a new Territory on the tile selected. On this screen you can name your territory, and select what type of territory you want (There's only one option at this stage of the game: Hamlet).
You can also see at this stage how many Expansion Points you will need to settle the territory, this varies depending on what type the Territory is. You can check how many points you have left by going to the Government screen and looking under the Power tab.
Press OK once you've given your territory the name you're after. This will complete the first mission and start the next one, Water for the Tribe. Closing the mission window that pops up, you should see something like the following:
