The raiding campaign is the lightest form of war, motivated only by the greed of looting resources and coins off another State.
Casus-belli[]
Raiding campaigns do not require any particular casus-belli, and can therefore be started at any time. It costs 50 Politics Points to de be declared, but it is highly affected by the distance of the target.
War goals[]
There are no war goals for the raider other than being able to launch "Raid" actions against the enemy to loot resources and coins. Therefore there are no victory objectives, and no auto-resolution: the defenders do not have a War morale and will not auto capitulate and the raider can only perform Raid actions (it is not possible to occupy territories).
The defenders however can win to force the raiding campaign to end: they are not affected by battle war morale results but the raiders are. They can also sack or occupy the raider's territories to further reduce its morale until it is forced to give up.
Special properties[]
- It is not possible to escalate another war to a Raiding campaign.
- The defenders cannot auto-lose and have no War Morale.
- The raider can instantly escalate to another war.
Effects[]
The raider cannot "win" the raiding campaign and there are therefore no winning effects. The defender will gain a war reparations treaty if he wins.
