Removing the hair out of the hides is a really labor intensive process that requires a lot of time but is necessary to process the hides into more durable leather. But some tanners with questionable hobbies advanced that by using urine and soaking the hides for a long time in it, which makes the hair removing much easier afterwards. This nasty process could greatly improve the efficiency of our tanneries, but it's definitely not going to improve the problem of their smell...
